The 3 Foundations of FDR

1. The essential idea behind FDR. (Your parents are bullies and you don't love them.) The Foundation of FDR

2. Why FDR was created. Molyneux says it's merely to pry you away from a belief in the "inherent virtue of family." That is, until you dig deeper. It's all in Prying Them Loose

3. How the theories of a well-known psychologist are used by FreeDomain Radio: The Rape of Alice Miller

If you decide to leave the FreeDomain Radio "community"...

Sorry folks, snark takes a holiday.

This post is from the heart and is directed to people who may be hurting right now. I'll be back with more fun next time!

If you decide to leave...

Is FreeDomain Radio a destructive cult?

In which I aggressively and fearlessly sidestep the big question, head on!

Part 1: The journey into FDR

Part 2: The three persuasions of Stefan Molyneux

Flogging dead horses—another UPB smackdown! In case you missed it, another FreeDomain Radio member did a bravura turn with a Stefan Molyneux masterwork!

This time it was someone named Noesis and the masterwork in question was UPB—Universally Preferable Behavior.

(Side question: why are women [Allison, bake, and now Noesis] so often the master shredders of Molyneux’s [il]logic? This question has been submitted to the massive FDR Liberated data analysis team. In the meantime, discuss.)

At any rate, on Jan 31, 2011, gentle Noesis opened a thread entitled Debate about UPB (Moral Nihilism). As bake had done before with RTR, Noesis pointed out a few flaws in Molyneux’s logic and offered to debate them.

Well, it became an epic thread and just the sort of thing Molyneux hates. Noesis spoke well, thought well, and reacted with courtesy to all comers. It raged on for 29 pages.

Unable to out-think her, Molyneux and his True Believers decided to defoo the thread entirely (i.e., run away) so it would scroll off the main page and you’d never see it.

Which is where I come in! Just hit the link above and enjoy. If you want to discuss it in a genteel environment that doesn’t ban people for disagreeing, then check out the “observation” thread on Liberating Minds.

Noesis’s well played argument does deserve an FDR Liberated article of its own but in the meantime just enjoy it for what it is—one very smart woman taking down “The largest and most popular philosophical conversation in the world.”

The very last sentence in the thread belongs to someone other than Noesis. He asked “So is this an open discussion about logic and philosophy, or just a cult of personality built around condemning anyone who disagrees with its dogma?”

Apparently, that question will hang suspended in mid-air for eternity, never to be answered.

Update! Stefan Molyneux showed up for Round 2 of the Smackdown! (And by “showed up,” I mean hiding in the background and banning people for disagreeing with him.) Anyway, don’t miss The Noesis saga—Stefan Molyneux smacks back!
