Since being ejected from the libertarian community for his fraudulent actions against Tru Shibes and his complete exposure on the Joe Rogan show, Stefan Molyneux has been recreating himself as a darling of white nationalists who believe there is a scientific justification for racism and misogyny. The Baffler has recently posted an interesting article that traces the “intellectual” lineage (such as it is) of new atheism.

Idiot? As you know, the reputable reporting staff here at FDR Liberated would never engage in name calling or character assassination.

We’re just reporting the news, in this case an interesting article by Alex Nichols on The Baffler about the rise of “new atheism” in the 90s and its ultimate takeover by militant racists.

I continue to be fascinated by the subject of FDR Liberated, in his decade-long journey from the obscure crackpot who believed he could save the world by convincing a generation of young people to leave their statist families to a right-wing political spokesperson for hate groups.

If I were God, I’d love to sit Molyneux-circa-2007 down with Molyneux today over a cup of coffee and ask them to explain themselves to each other.

Anyway…

Nichols begins with this premise:

….in the 1990s, a certain species of idiot materialized. He was male, aggressively pedantic, self-professedly logical, committed to the hard sciences, prone to starting sentences with “actually,” and almost always devoted to the notion that his disbelief in God imbued him with intellectual superiority.

For those of you who haven’t been following the program, Molyneux has softened his absolute stance against religion. That’s all starting to get pretty murky and I wouldn’t be surprised if he someday announces his belief in some kind of Higher Power. Nichol’s article is actually about the “heirs” of the above-mentioned movement that began in the 90s, for whom the central pillar today is not necessarily atheism, but an almost faith-based belief in bad science. Nichols begins his interesting and well-written take on the internet growth of militant new atheism before ending with our favorite philosopher, Stefan Molyneux.

Molyneux is an enthusiastic Trump supporter…and a fixture in the alt-right. …he denies climate change exists, but he also subscribes to fraudulent race science, argues that mental illness is a Jewish conspiracy, and believes the Las Vegas mass shooting was the result of a nationwide war on children. Despite all this moonstruck gibberish, Molyneux writes and speaks in the New Atheist style, fashioning himself as a master of logic, reason, and evidence.
